Hello again. Apologies for the total lack of updates or additions to this website so far, I’m only just emerging from a 5 1/2 month period of academic seclusion but now, having finally (almost) finished my Ph.D. thesis, I’ll be getting back to more important things.
To start with the ‘schedule’ section has now been updated to list some upcoming performances. These include two dates with Euan Burton’s International Quintet (featuring Will Vinson, Bryn Roberts and James Maddren) at the Edinburgh Fringe, an Austrian hit with the Joris Dudli Sextet and last, but by no means least, a 13 date UK/Ireland tour with my organ quartet (featuring US tenor saxophonist Seamus Blake) launching our new album ‘Do or Die’. This tour, generously supported by Jazz Services UK, features the same line up as the record and stops in Ireland, N Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales, climaxing on September 29th with the in store and online launch of the record. As such we’ll be celebrating that date with 2 London shows in one night, at Ronnie Scott’s and The Spice of Life respectively (full details check the ‘schedule’ link). For anyone who just can’t wait that long, firstly stop eating so much sugar and secondly go to the website of Whirlwind Recordings from where physical copies should be available for purchase by the end of this month (update to follow).
Aside from that I’m practicing, writing new material (some of which we’ll be playing during the course of the September tour) and getting ready to move to London at the end of August, all gigs gratefully received…
See you soon I hope,
M
